Grammy Nominated Chandrika Krishnamurthy in Boulder


Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon, nominated for a Grammy award this year, is coming to Boulder on 11/3 for a benefit concert.

Below is a short description of the event.

Chandrika Tandon will perform an innovative repertoire of classical chants combining her intensive training in Hindustani and Carnatic Indian music with western rhythms and percussion in an easily accessible way. The concert will include selections from her Grammy-nominated album, Soul Call, which was an eight syllable healing chant for wellness, from her new album (Soul March), and other pieces.

Ms. Tandon will be accompanied by her Soul Chants ensemble which consists of 7- 8 musicians playing eastern and western instruments - including the flute; saxophone; sitar; tabla; mridangam; guitar; keyboard - and will include local musicians and singers in the concert as well.

Rocky Mountain Thyagaraja Utsavam 2012 - Apr 7th & 8th


The CFAA RMTU committee take great pleasure in the announcement of the 2012 Rocky Mountain Thyagaraja Utsavam.

Rocky Mountain Thyagaraja Utsavam is transforming in 2012.

The 5th year celebration of RMTU in April 2012 is being presented in a bigger and grandeur form than ever before!!

2 major changes you will be seeing for the RMTU 2012 are:

1. DANCE: RMTU will also have a NATYA(traditional dance) section .

2. CLASSICAL PERFORMANCES: In Addition to the traditional rendering of Pancharathna kritis, and classical performances of the Colorado’s Premier performers, we are also presenting 2 of the most popular Indian Performing artists – Dr. Nithyashree Mahadevan & Priyadarshini Govind - during the Utsavam.

Bhairavi 10th Anniversary Celebrations

Hats off to Priya Hariharan's Bhairavi School of Music for putting up a wonderful show tonight at the Broomfield Auditorium.

It's so heartening to see the path taken by Priya and Krish over the past decade in not only training young kids to love and learn music, but being cultural ambassadors of this genre of music to the Denverites.

AMP'D - A Rock Concert for CRY America

CRY America is a charity organization involved in the betterment of underprivileged children.

Golden Hour Documentary


As part of CFAA's mission of promoting arts and culture in our state, we always hope that promoting the arts have a positive impact on the global society. 

Recently a specific case was brought to our attention, where a team of two faculty members and a student from our own CU Denver filmed a documentary titled The Golden Hour, in India this summer. The film is about curbing fatalities due to road accidents in India. India happens to be #1 right now on the global list for these kind of fatalities. 

The team is right now actively running a small fund-raising campaign that ends of 10/18 for their post production activities. While CFAA will not be able to do anything officially to support this cause, we wanted to bring this to the attention of arts lovers here in case anybody is interested.

Svanubhava 2012


Svanubhava is an annual festival conducted by the students of performing arts primarily in Chennai. It is a cultural movement in celebration of Indian art like never before. 


This 3 year old festival is now branching out to other parts of India like New Delhi, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Kolkota, Trichy etc..
